Pinal County BOS to "encourage" face mask use in unincorporated areas of county

bos-june2020

A special session of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors took place June 19th, with the sole item on the agenda to decide whether or not the county would mandate or require face masks.  A total of 153 letters were received by the board with an opinion on the resolution.  34 letters were in opposition to requiring mask use and 119 were in support of requiring mask use.

After several hours of reviewing an initial resolution, provided by county staff for consideration, a recess to allow for suggested changes to be incorporated into the resolution, a final resolution was introduced for a vote.  The vote however was postponed after Supervisor Miller was unable to access the final documents for review.  The agenda item is now being set for a vote during a Special Session meeting Wednesday June 24, 2020.

The resolution supports Governor Doug Ducey's Executive Orders relating to businesses and restaurant requirements.  In addition, the new resolution encourages face coverings to be worn in public, in unincorporated areas, including San Tan Valley.

Needs to mandated in light of critical uptick in cases!!! Governor Ducey has no backbone and is a poor example of leadership 🙄. Show him Pinal is more concerned about their citizens than politics!!!!

I do not support using masks. I’m 81 years old and have lived through a lot of various diseases. It’s a virus! Yes and a bad one, but like any virus you have let it run it’s course and it will eventually go away. The longer we try to prevent and p4otect the longer it is going to take. Polio was the worst. Many dies many were crippled and that just how life goes.

I live in San Tan Valley and don't think it is necessary at all to make wearing a mask in public mandatory. I social distance and am very aware of my surroundings. I believe I'm smart enough and careful enough not to have to be told I have to wear a mask. Also what needs to be taken in to consideration is people like myself who have asthma. It is more different for me to breathe with a mask on. Again I feel I'm smart enough to keep myself safe by social distancing.
